How creators answer buyer comments fast
November 3, 2026 · 8 min read
Creators answer buyer comments before the buyer scrolls away by splitting the work in two. A keyword reply sends the link automatically when someone comments PRICE or LINK, and AI drafts in the creator's own voice handle the questions no keyword predicted.
BetterSocials fits a creator who wants both across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube from one inbox. ManyChat fits a seller who needs multi-step flows, and Meta Business Suite's free automation fits a seller who only works on Instagram and Facebook.
The windows that decide when a buyer comment goes cold
Instagram gives a business 24 hours from a person's last message to reply to a DM. After that, the conversation stays closed until they write again. We took the rules explainer angle for this memo, because every fast reply runs against a clock like that one.
The clock differs by platform. TikTok lets a Business account reply to a DM for 48 hours after the person writes, with at most 10 replies. Meta Business Suite's desktop inbox sets a third limit: "You can't send a message in response to comments posted more than 7 days ago," per Meta's inbox help page.
Our assumption throughout is simple. A buyer comment is worth the most in the first minutes, while the person is still on the post. The rules below decide how close to those minutes a creator can get.
Keyword replies: what one comment can trigger on each platform
BetterSocials, ManyChat and Meta Business Suite all offer the same first move, called comment-to-DM. Comment-to-DM is an automation where a word in a comment, such as PRICE, sends the commenter a private message with your link.
Where that message can go is set by the platform. On Instagram and Facebook, a keyword comment can get a public reply under the comment and a DM with the link. On TikTok, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages, no tool can turn a comment into a private DM, so the keyword posts a public reply that carries the link.
TikTok's one exception is a limited rollout in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. Everywhere else, plan for the link to sit in public under the comment.
Meta's free version has tighter rules. Its keyword automations hold "up to 5 specific keywords or phrases," the keywords are case-sensitive, and one keyword can only sit in one automation, per Meta's keyword automation page. The same page says "Inbox will automatically send a keyword automation to a message after 15 minutes unless you personally respond before then." Setup is desktop only.
Saved replies and AI drafts: the limits on answering what you didn't predict
Meta Business Suite's automations send a fixed template you write yourself, so every commenter gets the same line. That covers the predictable asks. The questions about sizes, dates and order details still need someone to answer them.
AI drafts cover that gap. In BetterSocials, the AI writes each reply from a voice profile built from the owner's past replies, plus AI rules, which are plain sentences the owner writes, such as "never quote prices, send people to the booking link." On Draft for me, nothing posts until the owner approves it.
On Reply in my voice, everyday comments get an answer under the comment 1 to 5 minutes later. A DM gets an answer about a minute after it arrives. That covers Instagram, Facebook and TikTok DMs.
Questions follow a stricter rule. They wait in Needs reply for approval unless the owner turns on Answer questions too, and that switch only turns on once at least one AI rule exists. When the rules don't cover what someone asked, the AI doesn't guess, and after five AI replies in one conversation in a day the rest wait for the owner.
Livestream comments: the limits during a live sale
TikTok LIVE gives creators a large keyword filter. A creator can block up to 500 keywords or phrases, each up to 30 characters, and hide them from LIVE chat, per TikTok's LIVE comments help page. That limit belongs to LIVE only, and TikTok's page on regular video comments gives no maximum.
InstantDM covers the Instagram side. It lists Instagram Live comment automation among its features, outside its Free plan.
Meta Business Suite handles the people side. It lets you assign conversations in Inbox to the people who help, across "Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook comments or Instagram comments." Our assumption is that a live sale with real volume needs one person selling on camera and another clearing the queue.
TikTok comments and DMs: the 48-hour, 10-reply rule
TikTok lets tools reply to comments in public and answer DMs, with limits that apply to every tool on its API. A DM reply has to come within 48 hours of the person's last message, with at most 10 replies. Each reply is text up to 6,000 characters or one image, never both.
The account must be a Business account, and TikTok never lets a tool start a DM. Speed has a floor too. TikTok's comment webhook sends tools "notifications within five minutes of a comment or reply being created," per TikTok's comment API docs.
For a TikTok Shop seller, that puts the link in the public reply. In BetterSocials, a TikTok keyword posts the link under the comment, and TikTok DMs land in the same inbox as Instagram's. AI DM replies on TikTok work for accounts outside the UK and Europe.
What the tools cost in 2026, and who each one fits
BetterSocials, ManyChat, Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite and Sprout Social each price this job in a different unit: per account, per contact, per seat or free. The table compares one plan from each, with prices as of October 2026.
| Tool | Price | Billed | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| BetterSocials | $29 a month, 4 accounts | Monthly, or $24 a month yearly | Keyword DMs plus AI replies |
| ManyChat | $39 a month on Pro | Monthly | Multi-step flows and WhatsApp |
| Meta Business Suite | $0 | Free | Instagram and Facebook only |
| Hootsuite | $99 per user a month | Yearly | Teams sharing one inbox |
| Sprout Social | $199 per seat a month | Yearly | Larger teams sharing one inbox |
Meta Business Suite is the cheapest at $0. It's the right pick if you only sell on Instagram and Facebook and one fixed template per keyword is enough.
ManyChat runs on Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and TikTok, and its bill grows with your audience. Pro includes 2,500 active contacts, then charges $0.05 for each extra contact. So a busy month on Pro adds five cents to the $39 bill for every active contact past the first 2,500.
Hootsuite includes its inbox from Standard at $99 per user a month, and Sprout Social puts its inbox on Standard at $199 per seat a month, both billed annually. BetterSocials Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts and one login, with unlimited contacts. Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts.
How BetterSocials works inside these rules
BetterSocials puts Instagram and Facebook comments and DMs, TikTok comments and DMs, YouTube comments, Threads comments and LinkedIn Company Page comments in one inbox. It works inside the same limits listed above: the 24-hour Instagram window, TikTok's 48 hours and 10 replies, and public replies only on YouTube.
Every new comment and DM gets a tag when it arrives. Lead marks someone asking about price, booking or availability, and a new lead sends a push notification to the owner's phone. That alert shortens the gap on the questions the AI rules don't cover.
Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts, one login and 1,000 AI credits a month, and each AI reply or draft uses one credit. Team is $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for 12 accounts and unlimited teammates. Every plan has a 7-day free trial with a card, unlimited contacts and unlimited keyword automations.
We would set one keyword per offer before the post goes live, so the predictable asks get their link at once. Run Draft for me for a week and approve drafts until they read like you, then move everyday comments to Reply in my voice and keep questions in Needs reply until your AI rules cover your prices, hours and links.
Frequently asked questions
Do creators use saved replies or automation for buyer comments?+
Most use both. A keyword automation sends the link when someone comments PRICE or LINK, and saved replies or AI drafts handle the questions no keyword caught. In BetterSocials, AI drafts come from the owner's past replies and the AI rules they write.
How do live shopping creators keep up with comments during a livestream?+
They filter the noise and split the queue. TikTok LIVE lets a creator block up to 500 keywords of up to 30 characters each. InstantDM sells Instagram Live comment automation on its paid plans, and Meta Business Suite lets you assign conversations to the people who help.
Can TikTok Shop sellers auto-reply to buyer comments?+
Yes, in public. TikTok lets a Business account's tools reply to comments and answer DMs for 48 hours after the person writes, up to 10 replies. A comment can't trigger a private DM outside a rollout in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia, so in BetterSocials a TikTok keyword posts the link in the public reply.
What does comment automation cost for a creator in 2026?+
Meta Business Suite's comment-to-message is free and sends a fixed template. ManyChat Pro is $39 a month with 2,500 active contacts, then $0.05 per extra contact, billed monthly. BetterSocials Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts with unlimited contacts and AI replies included.
Should a comment-to-DM reply also post a public reply?+
Yes, when the platform allows it. A public reply tells the commenter and everyone reading that the link went out. On Instagram and Facebook, BetterSocials posts the public reply and sends the DM, and on TikTok, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages the public reply carries the link itself.
Will automatic replies make a creator sound like a bot?+
Fixed templates repeat the same line to every commenter. BetterSocials drafts each reply from a voice profile built from the owner's past replies, plus rules they write. Questions wait in Needs reply for approval unless the owner turns on Answer questions too, and that switch needs at least one AI rule first.
