Lash and nail studios on Instagram in 2026: the rules for auto-sending a booking link
October 29, 2026 · 9 min read
A lash or nail studio can send its booking link automatically with Instagram comment-to-DM, where a keyword such as "price" in a comment triggers a DM that carries the link. BetterSocials is best for a studio that also wants other questions answered in its own voice, at $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts. Meta Business Suite is best for one free template, and Manychat is best for multi-step flows and channels like WhatsApp and SMS.
Every tool that sends through Meta's API works inside the same Meta rule. One private message goes to each commenter, and it has to go out within 7 days of the comment.
What happens between a price comment and the booking link?
BetterSocials builds the price keyword from three parts. The keyword is the word that fires it, the public reply posts under the comment, and the DM carries your booking link. Meta Business Suite and Manychat also start from a keyword in a comment and send a DM.
We take the rules side of the question here: the counts, the windows and the limits each part runs into, with the source named for each. Those rules decide whether a client gets your link while you're still finishing a set.
The DM half works on Instagram and Facebook. On TikTok and YouTube, no tool can turn a comment into a private DM. There, and on Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages, the keyword posts a public reply with your link instead.
How does the Manychat route work for a studio?
Manychat builds comment-to-DM from its Instagram Post and Reel Comments trigger. You connect Instagram to Manychat first, then set the trigger, then build the flow that sends the DM with your booking link.
Manychat's help center also documents a Quick Automation for auto-DM links from comments. Manychat earns its place when you want multi-step sequences in that flow builder. It also fits a studio that wants channels like WhatsApp, SMS and Telegram next to Instagram and Messenger.
How much does Manychat's contact meter add in a busy month?
Manychat Pro is $39 a month, as of October 2026, with 2,500 active contacts included. Each extra contact costs $0.05 on Pro, billed monthly, against $0.10 on Essential and $0.025 on Business.
A studio on Pro that reaches 4,000 people in a month pays the $39 plus $0.05 for every contact past 2,500, which comes to a little over a hundred dollars. A Reel that pulls a wave of price comments moves that bill, because Manychat charges more once you pass the contacts your plan includes.
The table below prices one month on each tool by the number of people it reaches, at the month-to-month rates, as of October 2026. BetterSocials Creator is $29 a month for four accounts with unlimited contacts. Meta Business Suite's comment-to-message automation is free.
| Tool | Up to 2,500 | Past 2,500 |
|---|---|---|
| BetterSocials Creator | $29 | $29 |
| Manychat Pro | $39 | $39 plus $0.05 each |
| Meta Business Suite | $0 | $0 |
Meta Business Suite is the cheaper choice, and it's enough if one fixed message covers every client. What BetterSocials Creator's $29 a month for four accounts buys over it is replies in your voice, questions answered from your own rules and keywords that ignore capitals.
What does Meta Business Suite do for free, and where does it stop?
Meta Business Suite includes a comment-to-message automation at no charge. It sends a message you write when a comment on your post contains the keywords or phrases you set.
BetterSocials sends through Meta's official API, and any tool that does lives under Meta's platform rules. The 7-day line in the next section applies to Meta Business Suite's own Inbox too.
Meta's own help pages set these limits on the free automation:
- Matching is strict, because "keywords are case-sensitive, and an automated message will not be sent unless the keywords match exactly."
- Each automation holds at most 5 keywords or phrases, and the same keyword can only be used in one automation.
- The message is a fixed template you write once, and every commenter gets the same one.
- Setup for comment-to-message is desktop only.
- Replies can wait, since "Inbox will automatically send a keyword automation to a message after 15 minutes unless you personally respond before then."
One more catch applies to a studio with a greeting set up. Per Meta, "When both a custom keyword automation and a template automation are turned on and triggered, we'll send the template response but not the custom keyword automated response."
For price, Price and PRICE, the case rule means three keywords out of your five.
Which Meta rules limit every comment-to-DM tool?
Meta's private replies rule sets the limit for every tool that sends a DM from a comment. A private reply is the DM a business sends in answer to a comment. Meta's private replies documentation states the rule directly: "Only one message can be sent to the Instagram user who commented. The message must be sent within 7 days from when the comment was created."
The same page goes on: "Only when the Instagram user responds to the private message can you continue the conversation within the 24-hour messaging window." That window is the 24 hours after the person's last message, when a business can reply by DM through a tool. Every message they send restarts the clock, and past it you can still answer from the Instagram app itself.
Meta Business Suite's Inbox draws the same 7-day line. Its help page on comment actions says "You can't send a message in response to comments posted more than 7 days ago."
Where the message lands depends on whether the client follows you, and Meta says private replies are "delivered to the Instagram user's Inbox folder, if the Instagram user follows the Instagram professional account, or to the Instagram user's Request folder, if the Instagram user does not follow the account." A client who hasn't followed you yet gets your link in message requests, so the public reply under the comment should tell them to check their DMs.
The table below collects the limits as Meta's documentation stood in October 2026. The first five rows apply to every tool that sends through Meta's API, and the last two to Meta Business Suite's own automation.
| Rule | Limit |
|---|---|
| Private replies | One message per comment |
| Send window | Within 7 days of the comment |
| Follow-up window | 24 hours after their last message |
| Non-followers | Delivered to message requests |
| Live comments | During the broadcast only |
| Suite keywords | 5 per automation, case-sensitive |
| Suite send delay | 15 minutes unless you reply first |
How do you answer clients who write how much instead of price?
BetterSocials answers them with AI rules, plain sentences you write that hold your prices, hours and booking link. A comment asking how much never fires the price keyword, so the rules carry that part.
You turn AI replies on in Settings, then AI voice. Comments and DMs each have three settings: Off, Draft for me and Reply in my voice.
Questions wait in Needs reply for your approval unless you turn on Answer questions too. That switch only turns on once you've written at least one AI rule, so the AI answers from your facts. When your rules don't cover what someone asked, the AI doesn't guess, and the comment waits for you in Needs reply.
Every new comment and DM also gets a tag when it arrives. Lead marks anyone asking about price, booking or availability, and a new lead sends a push notification to your phone. Lead detection is free and on by default, and unanswered leads get at most one reminder email a day.
Each AI reply or draft uses 1 AI credit, and Creator includes 1,000 AI credits a month. When the credits run out, the AI pauses and never charges more on its own.
How do you set the price keyword up in BetterSocials?
BetterSocials keeps keywords under Comment to DM, and each one has five fields. Connect your Instagram account first at Connected Accounts in the sidebar, which takes under a minute and never passes your password to BetterSocials.
- 1Go to Comment to DM and hit New keyword link.
- 2In Accounts, pick which connected accounts it runs on, or leave it across all of them.
- 3In When someone comments…, type price. Capitals don't matter, so price, Price and PRICE fire the same keyword.
- 4In Reply on the comment, write the public line that tells them to check their DMs.
- 5In …and DM them this, write the message with your booking link.
- 6Leave AI replies off to start, or turn it on so each reply gets written fresh in your tone.
- 7Hit Go live.
Every plan has unlimited keyword automations, so book can be a second keyword with the same link. To see which keyword led to a booking click, open Settings, then Link tracking, and flip the top switch. It adds UTM tags, the labels on a link that tell your analytics where a click came from, to the links your keywords send, and it's off by default on every plan.
Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts and one login, with unlimited contacts. Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, card required, from the pricing page on BetterSocials' site.
Frequently asked questions
Can Instagram send a booking link automatically without a third-party tool?+
Meta Business Suite can, for free. Its comment-to-message automation sends a template you write when a comment contains your keywords. Setup is desktop only, keywords are case-sensitive with at most 5 per automation, and a keyword reply can wait 15 minutes before it sends unless you answer first.
How long after a comment can a tool send the DM?+
Meta's private replies rule gives every tool 7 days from when the comment was created, and only one message can go to that commenter. If they write back, the 24-hour messaging window opens and the conversation can continue from there.
Why didn't a client get the DM with my booking link?+
Instagram delivers the private reply to the client's message requests when they don't follow your studio, so they may miss it. A public reply under the comment tells them where to look for your booking link.
Does Manychat charge more as more people comment?+
Manychat does, once you pass the contacts your plan includes. Pro is $39 a month with 2,500 active contacts, and each extra contact costs $0.05 on Pro, billed monthly. A studio that reaches 4,000 people in a month pays a little over a hundred dollars.
Does the keyword have to match in capitals?+
BetterSocials ignores capitals, so price, Price and PRICE all trigger the same keyword. Meta Business Suite's keyword automations are case-sensitive and send only when the keyword matches exactly. There you'd add each spelling as its own keyword, up to 5 per automation.
Can the same keyword work on TikTok?+
BetterSocials runs the same keyword on TikTok as a public reply. On TikTok and YouTube, no tool can turn a comment into a private DM, so there, and on Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages, the keyword posts your booking link in the reply under the comment. The DM with the link is Instagram and Facebook only.
How much does BetterSocials cost for a studio?+
BetterSocials Creator is $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, for four social accounts and one login, with unlimited contacts and unlimited keyword automations. Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial, card required.
