How a contact meter turns reach into a bill
ManyChat bills on active contacts, counted every month. Each plan includes a set number of them, and every contact past it costs extra on that month's bill.
That is why growth shows up on the invoice. ManyChat charges more as you add contacts, so a post that blows up becomes your most expensive month. A quiet month and a viral month run the same automations and produce very different bills.

What changed in ManyChat's plans on March 2, 2026
ManyChat's plans changed for accounts created on or after March 2, 2026, and the free plan shrank most. It held 1,000 contacts before the change and holds 25 active contacts now. A single post with a few dozen keyword comments can use that up in a day.
The paid plans, as of September 2026, are these on month-to-month billing:
- Essential is $17 a month with 250 active contacts.
- Pro is $39 a month with 2,500 active contacts, and it includes AI.
- Business is $99 a month with 7,500 active contacts.
- Advanced is $199 a month with 25,000 active contacts.
On annual billing the same plans work out to $14, $29, $69 and $139 a month. The overage is where growth costs money. Each extra contact on monthly billing costs $0.10 on Essential, $0.05 on Pro, $0.025 on Business and $0.004 on Advanced. Annual plans pay $0.082, $0.038, $0.018 and $0.0028. Overage is charged monthly, even on an annual plan, so a yearly contract doesn't lock the bill. ManyChat's own Billing FAQ is the place to check your account's rules.
The usual alternatives price by accounts, DMs or seats instead of contacts. The trade is predictability for some of ManyChat's reach. ManyChat covers Instagram, TikTok, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, WhatsApp, SMS and email. If you need WhatsApp or SMS automation, it is still the tool to keep.
ManyChat's bill at 2,500, 4,000 and 10,000 active contacts
ManyChat's bill grows in steps you can work out from its published rates. Each figure below is the plan price plus extra contacts times the overage rate, from ManyChat's prices as of September 2026.

On Pro monthly, 4,000 contacts means fifteen hundred extra contacts at $0.05, so the bill is $114. At 10,000 contacts, Pro adds 7,500 extra contacts at $0.05, which takes the bill past four hundred dollars. Business month-to-month at 10,000 is $99 + 2,500 x $0.025 = $161.50. Moving up a plan before the busy month is cheaper than paying Pro's overage.

- 2Subtract the included number, multiply what's left by your plan's overage rate, and add the plan price.
- 3Run the same sum at three times last month's contacts, the month a Reel takes off.
- 4Price the same accounts on a flat plan at the same account count, and put both numbers in your budget sheet.

Schedulers bill by channel, profile or seat
Buffer, SocialBee and the per-seat suites price on what you connect or who logs in, never on the people who message you. A scheduler is the right answer if you mostly post and answer a few comments by hand.
Buffer is $5 per channel a month on annual billing, as of August 2026. That is less per channel than BetterSocials or CreatorFlow on yearly billing. Buffer's inbox covers comments only, so Instagram and Facebook DMs stay in the phone app.
SocialBee prices by profile, as of October 2026. Bootstrap is $29 a month, or $290 a year, for 5 profiles. Accelerate is $49 a month, or $490 a year, for 10 profiles. Pro is $99 a month, or $990 a year, for 25 profiles.
Metricool prices by brand and lists its comment-to-DM flows at no extra cost for a limited time on its pricing page, as of October 2026. Teams that want a shared inbox pay by the seat instead. As of October 2026, Hootsuite's inbox starts at $99 per user a month and Sprout Social's at $199 per seat a month, both billed annually.
None of these meters grow with your audience. They grow when you add a channel, a profile or a teammate, which you control.

Chatfuel bills by usage. Its pricing page lists one bot reply at US$0.0093 as of October 2026, so the bill follows conversation volume.
How BetterSocials prices comment and DM automation
BetterSocials has three plans, and every one includes unlimited contacts, unlimited DMs and unlimited keyword automations. Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four social accounts and one login. Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts. Team is $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for twelve accounts and unlimited teammates.
The only meter is AI credits, which pay for AI-written replies. Creator includes 1,000 a month, Pro 2,000 and Team 4,000 shared. Each AI reply or draft uses one credit. When credits run out, the AI pauses and nothing charges more on its own.
A keyword comment on Instagram or Facebook sends the person a DM with your link. On TikTok, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages, the keyword posts a public reply with the link instead.
