What a five-person social team pays in 2026: per user, per account or per plan

Social media schedulers bill in one of three ways: per user, per connected social account, or per plan with the team included. Hootsuite and Sprout Social charge for every login, Buffer charges for every channel, and Sendible includes unlimited users in one plan price. BetterSocials, best for a small team that answers comments and DMs as well as posting, charges per plan by account count, with unlimited teammates on its Team plan.
Three ways social schedulers bill in 2026
Hootsuite is the clearest example of the first model, and the other two are easier to see next to it. We took the cost question for this memo: what the same team pays under each model. Our assumptions are five people logging in, six social accounts and annual billing.
Per-user pricing means you pay a fixed amount for each person who logs in. Per-account pricing means you pay for each social profile you connect, whatever the team size. Per-plan pricing means one price covers a set number of accounts, with users included or capped.
The table below sorts ten schedulers by how they bill. Prices come from each vendor's pricing page as of October 2026, shown as the monthly rate on annual billing.

Most tools mix the models. Buffer's Team plan bills per channel and includes the team. Later and SocialPilot sell a plan price, then charge $5 a month for each extra user on Later's Growth plan and SocialPilot's Standard and Premium plans.
Which schedulers charge per user?
Hootsuite sells every plan per user. Standard is $99, Professional $199 and Advanced $399 per user a month, billed annually, as of October 2026. Its plans page tells you to "purchase additional seats for each team member who needs access."
Sprout Social prices per seat as well. Essentials is $79 a seat a month billed annually, or $99 monthly. Sprout Social's consolidated inbox sits on Standard at $199 a seat a month, billed annually.
Agorapulse charges per user too. Standard is $79 a user a month billed annually, or $99 monthly, and each user brings 10 social profiles. Extra profiles cost $10 a month each on annual billing, or $15 monthly.

Which schedulers charge per social account?
Buffer is the best-known per-account tool. Essentials is $5 a channel a month billed yearly, or $6 monthly, for one user. Team is $10 a channel a month billed yearly, or $12 monthly, with unlimited team members, per Buffer's pricing page.
Publer also prices by account. Professional is $5 a month for one social account, or $4 billed yearly, as of October 2026, and the price rises with each account you add. The plan owner is included, and the page's calculator shows each extra member adding about $2 a month on monthly billing.
Metricool prices per brand. The free plan covers one brand with no team members. Advanced starts at $53 a month billed annually, or $67 monthly, with unlimited team members.
Per-account pricing rewards a team with few accounts and many people. It gets expensive the other way round, when one person runs a long list of profiles.
Which schedulers include the whole team in one plan?
Sendible includes unlimited users on every plan. Core is $30 a month billed yearly, or $35 monthly, for one workspace with six social profiles.
Planable Basic is $33 a workspace a month billed yearly, or $39 monthly, with unlimited users. Planable's inbox is a $9 a month add-on.
SocialPilot caps users by tier instead. Essentials is $25.50 a month billed annually, or $30 monthly, for one user. Standard includes three users and Premium six, with extra users at $5 a month, and Ultimate includes unlimited users at $170 a month yearly or $200 monthly.
Later works the same way. Starter is $18.75 a month billed yearly, or $25 monthly, for one user with no extras. Growth includes two users, adds $5 a month for each extra user and starts at $37.50 a month billed yearly.
SocialBee holds users per workspace. Bootstrap is $29 a month or $290 a year, as of October 2026, for one user and five profiles. Pro is $99 a month or $990 a year for 25 profiles, three users per workspace and five workspaces.
What a five-person team pays on each
Hootsuite is the most expensive of the tools we priced for our test team of five people and six accounts on annual billing. The sums below use each vendor's entry plan that fits the team.
- Hootsuite Standard: 5 x $99 = $495 a month.
- Sprout Social Essentials: 5 x $79, just under four hundred dollars a month.
- Agorapulse Standard: 5 x $79, also just under four hundred dollars a month.
- BetterSocials Team: $79 a month for 12 accounts and unlimited teammates.
- Buffer Team: 6 x $10, or sixty dollars a month.
- Planable Basic: $33 a month for one workspace, plus $9 for the inbox.
- Sendible Core: $30 a month for six profiles.
Sendible, Planable and Buffer are cheaper than BetterSocials for this team. What BetterSocials's extra money buys is AI replies in your voice for comments and DMs, keyword comment-to-DM on Instagram and Facebook, and 12 accounts where Sendible Core holds six. The per-user tools cost three to four hundred dollars a month more than BetterSocials Team once five people log in.
The gap closes for a team of one. Hootsuite Standard is then $99 a month and Sprout Social Essentials $79, while BetterSocials Creator is $24 a month billed yearly for four accounts and one login. Buffer Essentials is cheaper again, at 4 x $5 = $20 a month yearly for four channels.
How to pick the model that fits your team
Buffer, Hootsuite and Sendible each win for a different team shape, so start from your own counts. These are the steps we would take.
- 1Count your logins and your social accounts. You'll know which number drives your bill.
- 2Match the larger number to the model. Many logins point to per-plan or per-account pricing, and many accounts with one login point to a per-user tool or a per-plan bundle.
- 3Do the sum at your real counts on both billing periods. You'll pay the price you planned on.

BetterSocials charges per plan by account count, and seats depend on the plan. Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts and one login. Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts and one login.
Team is $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for 12 accounts and unlimited teammates. You invite them by email from Settings, then Team. All three plans include unlimited contacts and unlimited keyword automations, and nothing is billed per contact.
