InstantDM vs BetterSocials in 2026: price and platforms
October 30, 2026 · 8 min read
InstantDM is the cheaper buy if your funnel lives on Instagram and Facebook. It has a free plan with 500 credits a month and paid plans at $9.99 and $24.99, as of September 2026. BetterSocials is the better buy if buyers also comment on TikTok, YouTube or Threads, and its Creator plan is $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, for four accounts, with AI replies included.
Why we're comparing these two pricing first
InstantDM and BetterSocials both sell comment-to-DM, the automation that sends a private message with your link when someone comments a keyword on your post. We've taken this one pricing first: the plans side by side, the month each price was seen, and what each line item buys.
Neither tool bills per contact. InstantDM's pricing page describes its comment-to-DM as running "with no contact tiers," and BetterSocials includes unlimited contacts, DMs and keyword automations on every plan. So the bill stays the same when a post takes off.
The short version is a trade. InstantDM costs less and goes deeper on Instagram. BetterSocials costs more and covers six platforms from one inbox, with the AI inside the plan price.
What InstantDM and BetterSocials cost in 2026
InstantDM lists a free plan with 500 credits a month and paid plans at $9.99 and $24.99, as of September 2026. Its paid tiers include Legend Pro and Trendsetter, per its pricing page in October 2026. InstantDM's trial runs seven days with no card.
BetterSocials has three plans, as of October 2026. Creator is $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, for four social accounts and one login. Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts, and Team is $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for twelve accounts and unlimited teammates.
The table below sets the two price lists side by side, with InstantDM's figures from September and October 2026 and BetterSocials' from October 2026.
| Cost line | BetterSocials | InstantDM |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | None, 7-day trial instead | 500 credits a month |
| Entry paid plan | $29 a month, four accounts | $9.99 |
| Next plan up | $49 a month, six accounts | $24.99 |
| Trial | 7 days, card required | 7 days, no card |
| Per-contact fees | None | None, no contact tiers |
| AI model cost | Included, 1,000 credits on Creator | Your own AI provider key |
| Platforms | Six | Instagram and Facebook |
InstantDM is cheaper at every step the table shows. On yearly billing, BetterSocials Creator comes to $288 a year for four accounts. What the extra money buys is TikTok, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Page comments in the same inbox, AI replies with no separate model bill, and posting to all six platforms.
BetterSocials has no free plan, and its trial needs a card. The first paid charge carries a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Which platforms each bill covers
InstantDM lists Instagram and Facebook as its platforms, including comment-to-DM on Facebook Page posts and Reels. BetterSocials connects Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages, and every comment and DM lands in one inbox.
The DM side has limits the platforms set for every tool. Instagram only lets a business reply to a DM within 24 hours of the person's last message. TikTok DMs on BetterSocials are reply-only, with at most 10 replies within 48 hours of the person's last message, and the account must be a Business account.
Comments work differently. A TikTok comment can't trigger a private DM on BetterSocials or any other tool outside TikTok's limited rollout in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia, and YouTube has no DM API for any tool. So on TikTok, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages, a BetterSocials keyword posts a public reply with your link.
If your leads come from Instagram Reels and Facebook posts, InstantDM's two platforms cover the funnel. If a YouTube Short or a TikTok brings in leads too, BetterSocials puts those comments in the same queue as your Instagram DMs.
What the AI adds to each bill
InstantDM's AI agent runs inside its flow editor on your own OpenAI, Claude, Gemini or DeepSeek key, from the Trendsetter plan up, per its pricing page in October 2026. That means you pay the AI provider separately, on that provider's own pricing. InstantDM's page says there's "no per-conversation metering" on its side, and it also lists AI comment reply variations among its message features.
BetterSocials includes the AI in the plan price. Creator comes with 1,000 AI credits a month, Pro with 2,000 and Team with 4,000 shared, and each AI reply or draft uses one credit. When the credits run out, the AI pauses and never charges more on its own.
BetterSocials drafts replies in your voice, from a profile built from your past replies plus AI rules you write in plain sentences, such as your prices, hours or booking link. You pick Off, Draft for me or Reply in my voice, separately for comments and for DMs. On Reply in my voice, a DM gets an answer about a minute after it arrives, and anything your rules don't cover waits for you in Needs reply.
For the AI line in your stack, the split is clear. InstantDM's AI cost sits on your provider's invoice, and BetterSocials' sits inside the plan. We looked at how schedulers price this in AI reply suggestions in a social media scheduler: what they cost in 2026.
Where InstantDM does more on Instagram
InstantDM goes deeper on Instagram automation than BetterSocials, and its pricing page lists the pieces. Paid plans add Instagram Live comment automation, a follow-before-link gate, DM sequences of up to 10 messages, button cards and carousels, image and PDF messages, and a reply delay. Higher tiers add the visual Flow Editor, which is desktop only, plus Messenger flows and Boosted Reels and Meta Ads comment automation.
InstantDM's Flow Editor routes leads to Mailchimp, Kit and Klaviyo, then to webhooks and an API for everything else. Its open-in-app link generator, which opens YouTube, Amazon and other apps directly instead of Instagram's in-app browser, is free on every plan.
BetterSocials skips the flow builder. You set a keyword and write the DM it sends, and on Instagram and Facebook it sends the DM with your link and posts a public reply under the comment. If your funnel needs a gate, a sequence or an email capture step, InstantDM is built for that.
Both tools connect to AI assistants through MCP, a connector that lets an assistant work inside the tool for you. InstantDM lists an MCP server for Claude on its higher tiers. BetterSocials runs a hosted connector that Claude and ChatGPT sign into with the normal BetterSocials login.
Whether you still need a separate scheduler
InstantDM schedules Instagram posts, Reels and carousels with the AutoDM attached, from Legend Pro up, per its pricing page. The same page notes that "Stories can't be scheduled through the Instagram API."
BetterSocials writes and schedules posts to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, LinkedIn and TikTok from one calendar, with unlimited posting on every plan. If you post the same video to Reels, Shorts and TikTok, that's one tool where you'd otherwise pay for a scheduler and a DM tool. We priced the inbox side of the bigger schedulers in What a comment and DM inbox costs on each social media scheduler in 2026.
When InstantDM is the better buy
InstantDM is the better buy when Instagram and Facebook are the whole funnel and the budget is tight. The free plan's 500 credits a month let you test comment-to-DM before you pay, and paid plans start at $9.99. Pick it if you want gates, sequences, button cards and email-tool routing, and you're fine bringing your own AI key.
When BetterSocials is the better buy
BetterSocials is the better buy when buyers comment on more than Meta's apps. A local business or creator with customers on TikTok, YouTube or Threads gets every comment and DM in one inbox, AI replies in their own voice with no separate AI bill, and posting to six platforms. Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts, and Pro covers six accounts for $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly.

Does InstantDM work with TikTok comments?+
