Can one inbox handle TikTok, Instagram and YouTube?

November 3, 2026 · 8 min read

Yes, one inbox can hold your TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube comments and DMs, and the bill depends on how many logins you need. BetterSocials covers all four for one person at $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts with comments and DMs together. Buffer is cheaper if you only answer comments, and Agorapulse fits a team that wants a per-user seat for each person.

The cost question, and the two limits no budget changes

BetterSocials, Buffer, Hootsuite and every other tool in this piece share two platform limits, so we priced around them. We took the cost angle because a growth team's real question is what the inbox replaces and what that costs, plan by plan.

The first limit is YouTube. It has no direct message API, so every tool works with YouTube comments and public replies only. The second is TikTok, which never lets a tool start a DM. A business can only reply after someone writes first.

What four platforms allow any inbox to do in 2026

Instagram and Facebook give tools the most room, and YouTube gives the least. The table below sets out what BetterSocials can do on each platform, checked against its live product on September 30, 2026. Most of the limits come from the platforms themselves, so they bind other tools too.

PlatformCommentsDMsKeyword reply
InstagramReply in publicReply within 24 hoursSends a DM with your link
FacebookReply in publicMessenger DMs in the inboxSends a DM with your link
TikTokReply in publicReply only, 48-hour windowPosts a public reply
YouTubeReply in publicNone for any toolPosts a public reply

A keyword reply is an automation that fires when a comment contains a word you picked, such as GUIDE. On Instagram and Facebook it sends the commenter a private DM with your link. On TikTok and YouTube the link goes out in a public reply instead, because a TikTok comment can't fire a private DM on any tool outside TikTok's limited rollout in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia.

Running TikTok and Instagram from one queue

TikTok and Instagram sit side by side in BetterSocials' inbox, and their reply windows set how fast you need to work. Instagram only lets a business reply to a DM within 24 hours of the person's last message. TikTok allows at most 10 replies within 48 hours of the person's last message.

The setup takes three steps:

  1. 1Connect each account from Connected Accounts. You sign in on the platform's own screen, and it takes under a minute.
  2. 2Switch the TikTok account to a Business account, because TikTok DMs only reach tools from Business accounts.
  3. 3Work from Needs reply, the view that holds every comment and DM still waiting for an answer.

A TikTok DM reply is text up to 6,000 characters or one image, never both. TikTok also only lets apps answer DMs for accounts outside the UK and Europe, so an account there can get comment replies from the inbox but not DM replies. On Instagram, story replies, voice messages, photos and shared reels land in the inbox as DMs with a plain line such as "Replied to your story".

Posting to TikTok and answering its comments without a second tool

Later and BetterSocials both schedule TikTok posts and bring TikTok comments back to an inbox, so one tool does both jobs. They differ on DMs and on YouTube.

Buffer schedules TikTok posts too, and its Community inbox covers comments only, on all plans, YouTube included. Later's Conversations, which Later's help center describes here, cover Instagram DMs and comments, Facebook DMs and comments and TikTok comments, starting on Growth. Later has no YouTube conversations.

BetterSocials posts and schedules to TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn from one composer. The comments those posts earn come back to the same inbox. Postiz, at $29 a month billed monthly as of September 2026, is a scheduler with no inbox, and its "post comments" feature schedules your own first comment.

Which unified inbox tools cover all four platforms

BetterSocials, Buffer and Later lead the table for a small team that wants TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube in one place, in that order. A unified inbox means one screen that collects comments and DMs from every connected account. Prices are as of September and October 2026, except Agorapulse's, which dates from July 2026, as does Hootsuite's inbox scope.

ToolPriceInbox gap
BetterSocials Creator$29 monthly, $24 yearlyNo TikTok comment-to-DM
Buffer$5 a channel, annualNo DMs, comments only
Later Growth$50 monthly, $37.50 yearlyNo YouTube conversations
Pallyy Pro$25 monthly, $20 yearlyNo YouTube in the inbox
Metricool$20 a month per brandNo keyword automation
Agorapulse$79 per user, annualNo email channel
Hootsuite Standard$99 per user, annualNo YouTube comments

Pick BetterSocials if your comments and DMs bring in customers and one person answers them across all four platforms. Pick Buffer if you mostly schedule posts and answer a few comments by hand. Pick Later if Instagram and TikTok comments matter and YouTube doesn't.

Metricool reads YouTube comments even on its free plan, which makes it a fair pick for comments on a tight budget. Agorapulse keeps one combined inbox on every tier, with AI reply suggestions. Hootsuite's inbox and Sprout Social's, at $199 per seat a month billed annually, are priced for larger teams.

What one inbox costs for four accounts

Buffer undercuts BetterSocials at four accounts in one inbox. Four channels at $5 each come to $20 a month on annual billing. BetterSocials Creator is $24 a month billed yearly for four accounts, so Buffer costs a few dollars less.

What those few dollars buy is the DM side of the inbox, AI replies in your voice and keyword comment-to-DM. Teams that want the DM half on top of Buffer often add a DM tool such as ManyChat. ManyChat Pro is $39 a month billed monthly as of October 2026, with 2,500 active contacts, and works on Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and TikTok.

Buffer plus ManyChat Pro comes to roughly sixty dollars a month. Each contact past 2,500 adds $0.05 on ManyChat Pro, so a month with a couple of thousand contacts over that allowance pushes the stack well past a hundred dollars. BetterSocials bills nothing per contact, so a busy month costs the same as a quiet one.

Seats change the sum. Hootsuite Standard is $99 per user a month and Agorapulse is $79 per user, both billed annually, so three people pay three times that. BetterSocials Team is $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for 12 accounts and unlimited teammates.

How BetterSocials handles the four platforms

BetterSocials puts every comment and DM from the connected accounts in one inbox, with views for Needs reply and Replied, plus tags, leads and archive. Each new comment and DM gets a tag when it arrives, such as Lead for questions about price, booking or availability. A new lead sends a push notification to the owner's phone.

AI replies have two sections, Comments and DMs, and each has three settings: Off, Draft for me and Reply in my voice. On Reply in my voice, everyday comments get answered 1 to 5 minutes later and a DM gets an answer about a minute after it arrives. Questions wait in Needs reply unless you turn on Answer questions too, which only switches on once you've written at least one AI rule.

AI rules are plain sentences you write, such as your prices, hours and booking link. When the rules don't cover what someone asked, the AI doesn't guess, and the message waits for you. Each AI reply uses 1 AI credit, and Creator includes 1,000 a month. Every plan has a 7-day free trial with a card required, and BetterSocials' pricing page lists all three plans.

Frequently asked questions

Can a unified inbox read TikTok DMs?+

Yes, on some tools. BetterSocials brings TikTok DMs into the inbox, and you can reply within 48 hours of the person's last message, up to 10 replies. TikTok never lets a tool start a DM, the account must be a Business account, and apps can't answer DMs for accounts in the UK and Europe.

Can any tool send YouTube DMs?+

No. YouTube has no direct message API, so every tool works with YouTube comments and public replies only. In BetterSocials, comments on your videos and Shorts land in the same inbox as your Instagram DMs, with AI replies in your voice and keyword auto-replies that post your link publicly.

Does Meta Business Suite cover TikTok or YouTube?+

No. Meta's Inbox Automations cover Meta surfaces only: Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and comments on your Facebook and Instagram posts. Its keyword automations send templates you write, are set up on desktop, and wait 15 minutes before sending unless you reply first.

Can a TikTok comment trigger a DM with my link?+

Not on BetterSocials or any other tool, outside TikTok's limited rollout in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia. On TikTok, a keyword comment gets a public reply with your link instead. The private DM with a link works on Instagram and Facebook.

How much does one inbox for four platforms cost?+

BetterSocials Creator is $29 a month, or $24 a month billed yearly, for four social accounts and one login. That covers one account each on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube. Every plan includes unlimited contacts, comments and keyword automations.

Does the AI answer DMs on its own?+

BetterSocials answers DMs on its own only if you switch it on. AI replies have a DMs section with Off, Draft for me and Reply in my voice. On Reply in my voice, a DM gets an answer about a minute after it arrives, and questions your AI rules don't cover wait for you in Needs reply.
