Metricool pricing in 2026: what free covers and what $20 adds

August 17, 2026 · 8 min read

Metricool is free for one brand, $20 a month on annual billing for Starter ($25 month to month), and from $53 a month for Advanced (metricool.com/pricing, checked August 2026). It prices per brand rather than per user or per channel, which makes it one of the cheapest credible schedulers for a single business posting to a lot of platforms. The free plan caps you at 20 posts a month, and that cap is the thing most people hit first.

What Metricool costs

The prices move inside each tier as you add brands, so "from" is doing real work in that table. Starter and Advanced both have a brand selector that raises the monthly rate. Metricool also prices in euros, where Starter is €16 a month on annual billing and €20 month to month.

Why per-brand pricing matters more than the headline

This is the part that decides whether Metricool is cheap for you or not, and most comparisons skip it.

A brand in Metricool is one business with all its connected networks. So one brand posting to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn and Google Business Profile is a single brand, at a single price. Compare that with Buffer, which charges $5 per channel: the same six platforms there is $30 a month on annual billing (buffer.com/pricing, checked August 2026).

If you run one business across many networks, per brand is the friendliest model on the market. If you run ten small clients each on two networks, it becomes the most expensive one, because you are paying by the thing you have ten of.

The short version

One business, many platforms: Metricool is excellent value. Many clients, few platforms each: check the brand count before you commit, because that is what you are buying.

Is Metricool actually free?

Yes, genuinely, and the free plan is more useful than most. One brand, an inbox across five networks, competitor tracking on five accounts, and the AI assistant.

Two limits decide whether it lasts. The first is 20 posts a month, which is the cap most people meet first and the main reason anyone upgrades. Check how Metricool counts a post across multiple networks against your own posting rhythm before you rely on it. The second is 30 days of analytics history, which means you can never look back at a quarter.

Both are honest free-tier limits rather than traps. They are just the ones you will run into around week three.

What you get for $20

  • Unlimited publishing, which is the main reason to upgrade from free.
  • Unlimited analytics history instead of 30 days.
  • Competitor tracking on up to 100 accounts.
  • PDF and PowerPoint report exports, which is the feature people actually stay for.
  • LinkedIn added to the inbox, alongside Instagram, Facebook, Google Business Profile, TikTok and YouTube.
  • 20 AI credits per brand per month, and an X add-on if you need it.

The reporting is genuinely the best thing here. If any part of your job involves handing someone a document that proves social is working, nothing else at this price comes close.

What $20 does not buy

Two gaps matter for a creator rather than an agency.

  • No keyword comment-to-DM automation. The mechanic where someone comments GUIDE and automatically gets a DM with your link is not part of Metricool. That is a separate subscription, usually ManyChat at $29 a month on annual billing (manychat.com/pricing, checked July 2026).
  • Replies are not written in your voice. There is an AI assistant and there are AI credits, but the inbox does not draft replies trained on how you actually write. At high comment volume that is the difference between an inbox you use and one you avoid.

What counts as a brand, and why it decides your bill

Getting this wrong is the main way people misprice Metricool in either direction.

A brand is one business with all of its connected networks underneath it. So a creator posting as themselves to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google Business Profile is one brand. Six platforms, one price, and on the free plan that is $0.

A freelancer running social for four small businesses is four brands, even if each of those businesses only uses Instagram. Same effort, very different bill.

Your shapeBrandsRoughly
One creator, six platforms1Free, or $20 for unlimited posting
Creator plus a separate business page2Starter, $20
Freelancer with 8 clients8Starter, priced by brand count
Small agency, 20 clients20Advanced, from $53 and climbing

If you are a solo creator, this is the best pricing model on the market for you and it is not close. If you are an agency, check the brand selector before you get attached to the $20 headline.

How the unit compares

Every tool in this category bills by something different, and the unit matters more than the headline price.

  • Metricool bills by brand. Cheap if you have one business on many networks.
  • Buffer bills by channel. Cheap at one or two, $30 a month at six (buffer.com/pricing, checked August 2026).
  • Hootsuite, Agorapulse and Sprout Social bill by person. Unchanged when you add platforms, doubled when you add a colleague.
  • ManyChat bills by contacts you interacted with. The only model where a post doing well can raise the bill (manychat.com/pricing, checked July 2026).

Work out which of those units grows fastest in your business over the next year, then avoid being billed by it.

What the whole job costs

Metricool covers scheduling, analytics and an inbox. Add the automation and the caption writing and you are buying a stack.

How you would buy itPer monthWhat you still would not have
BetterSocials, one subscription$29 flatTikTok comments, because TikTok keeps that API closed. X is not supported.
The cheap stack: Buffer Essentials on six channels, plus ManyChat Pro$59DMs in one place. Buffer's inbox covers comments only, so every Instagram and Facebook DM stays in the phone app.
The suite stack: Agorapulse Standard, plus ManyChat Pro$108Email in the same thread as the DMs, and replies trained on how you write.
The one most people shop: Sprout Social Standard, plus ManyChat Pro$228The same two things, at seat pricing built for a marketing department.

Every figure is the annual billing rate, which is the cheapest each vendor sells. Buffer is $5 per channel and six channels is $30 (buffer.com/pricing, checked August 2026). Agorapulse Standard is $79 per user (agorapulse.com/pricing, checked July 2026). Sprout Social Standard is $199 per seat, and Standard is where their consolidated inbox starts (sproutsocial.com/pricing, checked August 2026). ManyChat Pro is $29 on annual billing and $39 month to month (manychat.com/pricing, checked July 2026). Month to month, every stack on this table costs more. BetterSocials is $29 either way, and the first 100 founding members keep $19 forever.

Who should buy which

Free is enough if

One brand, under 20 posts a month across everything, and you never need to look further back than a month. That is a real slice of people and they should not pay anything.

Starter at $20 if

You post regularly and reporting matters. This is the best value on the market for analytics and it is not close.

Something else if

The comments and DMs are your bottleneck rather than the posting. At that point you want replies drafted in your voice and keyword automations included, which is what BetterSocials does for $29 flat. The two tools solve genuinely different halves of the job, and if reporting is your priority I would tell you to buy Metricool.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Metricool cost?+

Free for one brand, from $20 a month on annual billing for Starter ($25 month to month), and from $53 a month for Advanced. Prices rise inside each tier as you add brands (metricool.com/pricing, checked August 2026). In euros, Starter is €16 a month on annual billing.

Is Metricool free?+

Yes. The free plan covers one brand, up to 20 posts a month, 30 days of analytics history, competitor tracking on five accounts, and an inbox across Instagram, Facebook, Google Business Profile, TikTok and YouTube (metricool.com/pricing, checked August 2026).

What are the limits on the Metricool free plan?+

Two that matter: 20 posts a month, and 30 days of analytics history. The post cap is what most people hit first, and Starter at $20 a month on annual billing removes it and gives you unlimited history.

Is Metricool priced per user or per channel?+

Neither. It is priced per brand, where a brand is one business with all of its connected networks. That makes it cheap for a single business on many platforms and expensive if you manage many separate clients.

Does Metricool do comment-to-DM automation?+

No. Metricool includes an inbox for comments and messages but not keyword-triggered automations that send a DM when someone comments a specific word. That is a separate tool, usually ManyChat at $29 a month on annual billing, or BetterSocials at $29 flat with it included.

What are the downsides of Metricool?+

Three worth knowing before you buy. Per-brand pricing turns against you if you manage many separate clients, because you are billed by the thing you have most of. There is no keyword comment-to-DM automation, so the mechanic where someone comments a word and gets a link automatically needs a second tool. And the inbox does not draft replies trained on how you write, which matters once comment volume is the bottleneck rather than posting.

Metricool or Buffer, which is cheaper?+

It depends entirely on your shape. Metricool Starter is $20 a month for one brand across all its networks. Buffer Essentials is $5 per channel, so six platforms is $30. One business on many platforms is cheaper on Metricool; one or two channels is cheaper on Buffer.
