Why does ManyChat cost more as you grow, and what charges a flat price?

!Glowing magenta meter fed by a crowd of tiny figures, illustrating ManyChat per-contact pricing rising as you grow

ManyChat bills by active contacts, the people who interact with you through ManyChat in a month. ManyChat Pro is $39 a month, or $29 billed yearly, for 2,500 active contacts as of October 2026, then $0.05 per extra contact on monthly billing. Most social media schedulers charge per channel or seat instead. BetterSocials is an AI social media manager for local businesses, creators and small agencies, and it charges a flat $29 a month for four accounts with unlimited contacts. That price covers posting, the comment and DM inbox and keyword DMs.

ManyChat and BetterSocials prices checked October 22, 2026. BetterSocials is our product, so it goes first in the lists and tables below.

What per-contact pricing means for your bill

ManyChat counts an active contact as a person who interacts with you through ManyChat in the billing month. The count runs every month, even if you pay for the year up front. Each plan includes a set number, from 25 active contacts on Free to 25,000 on Advanced.

When you pass your plan's number, ManyChat keeps your automations running and bills the overage automatically. On monthly billing, each extra contact costs $0.10 on Essential, $0.05 on Pro and $0.025 on Business, as of October 2026. Far past the cap, automations may pause.

So the bill follows engagement. A quiet month costs the base price. A month where a reel takes off costs more, because each person your automation answers counts as an active contact. The posts that bring in the most customers are the ones that raise the bill.

How BetterSocials charges a flat price

BetterSocials is best for businesses and creators whose comments and DMs bring in customers, because it prices by account count and every plan has unlimited contacts, DMs, comments and keyword automations. Nothing is billed per contact. We know what it's like to dread a good post because of the bill that follows it.

  • Creator is $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for 4 social accounts, 1 login and 1,000 AI credits a month.
  • Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for 6 social accounts, 1 login, 2,000 AI credits a month and analytics.
  • Team is $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, for 12 social accounts, unlimited teammates and 4,000 shared AI credits a month.

AI credits are the only meter, and they cover AI writing. When they run out, the AI pauses until your month resets or you top up, and nothing charges more on its own. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial (card required) and has a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first paid charge.

Switching takes three steps:

  1. 1Count last month's active contacts on your ManyChat bill and see what each person cost you.
  2. 2Connect your accounts and set one keyword, so the link goes out with no flow to build.
  3. 3Post your best work and keep the same bill whatever the comments do.

BetterSocials doesn't connect WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, X or email, and it doesn't import ManyChat flows or keywords. AI replies answer comments and Instagram, Facebook and TikTok DMs, each with its own setting, from the AI rules you write.

Why did ManyChat get so expensive, and what do people switch to?

ManyChat changed its pricing on March 2, 2026. The new model is the default for accounts created on or after that date, and it's rolling out to older accounts country by country. Four parts of it push the bill up:

  • The free plan dropped from 1,000 contacts to 25.
  • Active contacts are counted every month, even on annual plans.
  • AI features are included from Pro up, at $39 a month or $29 billed yearly.
  • Each extra inbox seat costs $25 on Pro and up.

Older accounts on legacy pricing started from $15 a month for 500 contacts on Pro, with the tier picked by contact count. On legacy plans, AI was a $29 add-on, as of July 2026.

If you're leaving ManyChat, where you go depends on the job:

  1. 1BetterSocials, if comments and DMs bring in your customers and you want posting, the inbox and keyword DMs on one flat bill.
  2. 2Meta Business Suite, if one keyword and one template message is enough. It's free, set up on desktop, and waits 15 minutes before sending unless you reply first.
  3. 3A scheduler with an inbox, such as Buffer or Agorapulse, if you mostly post and answer comments by hand. They charge per channel or per user, not per contact.

Stay on ManyChat if your funnel is more than one message, with conditions and follow-ups, or if it lives on WhatsApp, Telegram or SMS. That flow builder is what the per-contact price pays for. BetterSocials has no flow builder and no WhatsApp.

Is there a social media scheduler that doesn't charge per contact like ManyChat does?

Yes. Buffer, Metricool, Later, Hootsuite, Agorapulse and Sprout Social charge by the channel, the brand, the user or the seat, so a busy month doesn't change the price. The catch is the DM side. Schedulers are built around a calendar, while keyword DMs belong to DM tools that charge by the contact.

The table shows where each inbox starts on price and where it stops, from each vendor's pricing page as of October 2026, except Buffer (August 2026) and Agorapulse (July 2026).

ToolInbox fromInbox note
BetterSocials$24 a month yearly, 4 accountsComments, DMs and keyword DMs
Buffer$5 per channel, billed yearlyComments only, DMs stay in app
Metricool$0 on the free planNo keyword automation
Later$37.50 a month, billed yearlyNo YouTube or LinkedIn conversations
Agorapulse$79 per user, billed yearlyInbox on every tier
Hootsuite$99 per user, billed yearlyYouTube is publishing and analytics only
Sprout Social$199 per seat, billed yearlyEssentials plan lists no inbox

Buffer is cheaper per channel. Four channels on Buffer come to $20 a month on annual billing, and BetterSocials Creator is $24 a month billed yearly, or $29 monthly, for four accounts. What the difference buys is the DM side of the inbox, AI replies in your voice and keyword comment-to-DM.

If you only answer comments, a scheduler with an inbox is enough. The moment you want a comment to send a DM with your link, you're buying a DM tool too, and that's a second subscription priced per contact. Buffer on six channels plus ManyChat Pro comes to $59 a month on annual billing. BetterSocials Pro covers six accounts for $39 a month billed yearly, or $49 monthly. ManyChat pricing in 2026: contact limits by plan

ManyChat sells five plans, each with a fixed number of active contacts a month. The table shows each plan's price on yearly and monthly billing and the contacts it includes, from manychat.com/pricing as of October 22, 2026.

PlanBilled yearlyBilled monthlyActive contacts
Free$0$025
Essential$14 a month$17 a month250
Pro$29 a month$39 a month2,500
Business$69 a month$99 a month7,500
Advanced$139 a month$199 a month25,000

Past the included number, each extra active contact costs $0.10 on Essential, $0.05 on Pro and $0.025 on Business on monthly billing. Advanced overage is custom. AI features are included from Pro, and ManyChat offers a 14-day trial on Essential and Pro.

What a growing month costs on ManyChat, worked out

ManyChat Pro on monthly billing is $39 with 2,500 active contacts included. Each line below is a monthly bill at ManyChat's published rates from October 22, 2026:

  • A Pro account that reaches 4,000 people in a month pays the $39 base plus $0.05 for each contact past 2,500, so $114.
  • A Pro account that reaches 10,000 people pays $39 plus 7,500 extra contacts at $0.05, which is over four hundred dollars.
  • On Business, the same 10,000 people cost $99 + 2,500 x $0.025 = $161.50.
  • A reel that brings 3,000 keyword comments to a Pro account already at 2,500 people, with every commenter new, pays $39 plus 3,000 extra contacts at $0.05, close to two hundred dollars.

ManyChat does give you two ways to soften this. You can set an overage threshold, and upgrading within the same billing cycle forgives that cycle's overage. Both mean watching the count and moving up a tier as you grow, and the base price climbs with each tier.

BetterSocials Creator stays $29 a month, or $24 billed yearly, for four accounts in every one of those months. BetterSocials Pro is $49 a month, or $39 billed yearly, for six accounts. Neither counts contacts. For the overage at every ManyChat tier, read How much does ManyChat cost past the active contact limit?

Which Instagram comment-to-DM tools charge a flat price?

BetterSocials is flat. A keyword in an Instagram or Facebook comment sends the person a DM with your link and posts a public reply, with no flow to build. Keywords and contacts are unlimited on every plan.

Meta Business Suite is the free option. Its keyword automation sends a template you write, or Meta Business Agent, across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp. You set it up on desktop, and it waits 15 minutes before sending unless you reply first.

ManyChat starts at $14 a month billed yearly, or $17 monthly, for 250 active contacts, and its keyword and flow-builder triggers run on the contact meter. Its AI Comments feature writes tone-matched public replies on Instagram only, for positive comments, in beta as of July 2026.

On TikTok and YouTube, no tool can turn a comment into a private DM. There, and on Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages, the BetterSocials keyword posts a public reply with your link.

Every tool on Meta's approved API faces the same delivery rules, BetterSocials included. A DM to someone who doesn't follow you lands in their message requests. That's why each BetterSocials keyword DM comes with a public handoff reply, so the commenter knows to check.

Move to a flat price and a busy month costs what a quiet month costs. Stay on a per-contact meter and every good post raises the bill.
