How do I filter and moderate TikTok comments on my business account?
October 18, 2026 · 9 min read
To filter TikTok comments on a business account, open the TikTok app, go to Settings and privacy, then Privacy, then Comments, and turn on Filter unwanted comments, Filter keywords or Filter all comments. Held comments wait in Review filtered comments. BetterSocials, a social media management platform, puts the comments you keep in one inbox with replies drafted in your voice.
TikTok comment filters in 2026, the short answer
Checked against TikTok's Help Center on October 16, 2026.
A comment filter hides matching comments until you approve them. The commenter's words stay out of public view until you decide. TikTok gives you four filters, all in one menu in the app.
Start with Filter unwanted comments and a short keyword list. Add Creator Care Mode if abuse is a problem. Use Filter all comments only on posts where you want to approve every single reply.
Then check Review filtered comments once a day. A buyer's question can land in the held pile, and it only reaches your page when you approve it.
How do I filter and moderate TikTok comments on my business account?
You set every filter in the TikTok app on your phone. The path is the same one TikTok's Comment Filters help page gives.
Open the comment filters
- 1Open the TikTok app and tap Profile.
- 2Tap the menu (three lines) in the top corner.
- 3Tap Settings and privacy.
- 4Tap Privacy, then tap Comments.
- 5Find the Comment filters section and turn on the filters you want.
The four filters, in TikTok's words
#### Filter unwanted comments
TikTok's help page puts this under the heading "To filter spam and offensive comments", but the toggle reads Filter unwanted comments. When it is on, "recent comments that may be offensive or spam will be hidden unless you approve them."
#### Creator Care Mode
This is a separate toggle. It hides "comments that are inappropriate, offensive, or contain profanity, as well as comments that were previously reported, deleted, or disliked" until you approve them.
#### Filter keywords
Below Comment filters, tap Filter keywords in comments. Turn on Filter specific keywords, then tap Add keywords. Comments on your videos that contain those words are hidden unless you approve them.
#### Filter all comments
This is manual approval for everything. Every comment on your videos stays hidden until you approve it. TikTok notes that this feature isn't currently available to everyone, so you may not see it yet.
Review what the filters held
Filters hide comments. They do not answer them. To see what was held, tap Review filtered comments, then tap Approve or Delete below each one.
Approve the real questions first. Someone asking about price or availability is a buyer, and a hidden question gets no reply.
How do I hide or filter comments on TikTok?
You have three more controls beyond the filters: who can comment, a per-video switch, and bulk actions. Use them together.
Choose who can comment
In the same Comments menu, tap Allow comments from. You get three choices:
- Everyone, for public accounts only
- Followers, for private accounts only
- Friends, meaning followers you follow back
Most business accounts stay public, so Everyone is the usual setting. Narrowing it cuts spam but also cuts new buyers.
Turn comments off on one video
Before you post, tap More options on the Post screen and turn Allow comments on or off. For a video that is already live, tap More options, then Privacy settings, then the Allow comments switch.
This is the fastest fix when one video draws a pile-on. The rest of your account stays open.
Delete and block in bulk
You can delete up to 100 comments at once. Tap the Filters button at the top of the comments, or press and hold a comment and tap Manage multiple comments. Select the comments and delete them.
To block the accounts behind them, select their comments the same way, tap More at the bottom, then tap Block accounts. A blocked person can't view your videos or engage with you through direct messages, comments, follows or likes.
The organic app gives you bulk delete and bulk block, not bulk hide. TikTok's Help Center describes no Restrict feature for video comments either. To keep a comment out of view without deleting it, rely on the filters above.
Where are TikTok's comment filter settings and keyword limits?
All four filters sit in Profile, the menu, Settings and privacy, Privacy, Comments, under Comment filters. Here is what each one does, per TikTok's Help Center as of October 16, 2026.
| Filter | What it hides | Setup | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Filter unwanted comments | Recent comments that may be spam or offensive | One toggle | None stated |
| Creator Care Mode | Inappropriate, profane or previously reported comments | One toggle | None stated |
| Filter keywords | Comments containing keywords you add | Toggle plus your keyword list | No maximum stated |
| Filter all comments | Every comment until you approve it | One toggle | Not available to everyone yet |
Every filter holds comments until you approve them in Review filtered comments. None of them deletes anything on its own.
The keyword figure needs care. TikTok's help page for video comments gives no maximum. The 500-keyword limit, with up to 30 characters per keyword, belongs to comments on TikTok LIVE, where it applies to blocked words in LIVE chat.
So add your worst words first: the spam phrases and slurs you see most. Then check a recent video to confirm they are being held.
Can you filter TikTok comments from desktop or Business Center?
No. Every filter procedure on TikTok's Help Center starts "In the TikTok app", so you set filters on your phone.
On the web, TikTok Studio at tiktok.com/tiktokstudio works for both Personal and Business accounts. Its comments section lets you delete, like, dislike and reply to comments. It leaves out community-flagged and blocked comments, so you won't see the held pile there.
Web Business Suite has no comment tool. Its tabs are Homepage, Analytics, Creative Hub, Leads manager, Settings, and Activity & support.
Third-party tools work through TikTok's API, which lets an approved tool list, reply to, hide, unhide and delete comments one at a time. The API's documented comment endpoints have no switch for Filter unwanted comments, keyword filters, Filter all comments or Creator Care Mode. No outside tool can turn those on for you.
The practical split: set your filters on your phone once, then work through the comments that get past them on desktop or in a tool.
How do you moderate comments on TikTok ads?
Use TikTok Ads Manager for comments on paid posts. Per TikTok's Ads Manager help page, you can hide or unhide ad comments in bulk and export them.
TikTok's API also has a separate group for ads called Ad Comments - Blocked Words. It lets an approved tool create, update, check and get blocked words for ad comments.
None of this reaches organic videos. The app filters don't cover your ads, and the Ads Manager tools don't cover your regular posts. If you run both, you set rules in two places: the app for organic videos, Ads Manager for paid ones.
How BetterSocials does this
TikTok's filters keep the junk out of sight. What's left still needs answers, and that is where we come in.
Connect your TikTok Business account and every comment you keep lands in one Inbox. Each new comment gets a tag when it arrives: Lead for questions about price, booking or availability, Spam, or Support. A new lead sends a push notification to your phone.
The AI skips spam. Questions never go out on their own: the AI writes a draft in your voice and the comment waits in Needs reply, because it cannot know your prices or your process. You approve drafts one at a time or with Approve in bulk. We cover this in How to reply to TikTok comments faster with AI in your voice.
Keyword auto-replies work on TikTok too. When someone comments your word, your account answers with a public reply that carries the link. A TikTok comment cannot trigger a private DM on any tool outside TikTok's rollout in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia, so the link goes in the reply.
TikTok DMs arrive in the same Inbox and can be answered. They are reply-only: you get at most 10 replies within 48 hours of the person's last message. TikTok's DM rules for business accounts, and how to reply within them explains the window.
Other tools read TikTok comments too. Later's Conversations inbox starts on Growth at $37.50 a month billed yearly. Pallyy's inbox comes on Pro at $25 a month ($20 billed yearly), and Vista Social's Professional plan is $99 a month ($80 billed yearly). Hootsuite is $99 per user a month and Sprout Social's inbox starts at $199 per seat a month, both billed yearly. We read every one of those prices on October 16, 2026.
What we add is TikTok comments and DMs beside Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Threads and LinkedIn Company Pages, with AI replies on every plan. Creator is $29 a month for four accounts ($24 a month billed yearly). Pro is $49 a month for five accounts, and Team is $99 a month for ten accounts with unlimited seats. Start your free trial.
