What text-based editing actually is
A traditional editor shows you footage as a strip of thumbnails and a waveform. A text-based editor shows you the same footage as words with timestamps behind them. The two views stay in sync: cut a clip and the words disappear, delete the words and the clip is cut. Nothing about the output changes.
