Let your AI edit your videos: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, any agent

Your AI assistant can now edit your videos, actually edit them: cut retakes, remove filler, tighten pauses, caption every word, add text and overlays, while you watch the changes land in an open browser tab. This works because the BetterSocials editor exposes itself to any AI over MCP, the open protocol Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and most agents already speak. The editor is free, the protocol is open, and the AI is the one you already pay for.

The shift: agents operate tools now
Until recently, asking an AI about your video got you advice. The missing piece was never intelligence, it was hands: a chat window cannot open a timeline. MCP (Model Context Protocol) fixed that by giving AIs a standard way to drive real software. Point your agent at an editor that speaks it, and "cut the bad takes" stops being a suggestion and becomes an action you can watch happen.
Video editing is unusually suited to this. The edit decisions live in a transcript, which is text, which is the one thing language models are actually good at. An agent reading "so today I want to, sorry, let me start over, today I want to show you" knows exactly what to cut. It never needed to see the pixels.

Every cut shows struck through in the transcript, so you review the agent's work like a document edit. Export stays a human button on purpose: rendering runs in your browser after you check the result. And money, account settings and channel connections never accept an agent's key at all.

- Watch the tab, read the strikethroughs, restore anything you want back, export.
The boring safety details, because they matter
- Keys are scoped to one workspace, stored hashed, revocable in one click.
- Rate limits run in tiers, and anything that would leave the app is the strictest.
- Write actions in ChatGPT ask you to confirm each one.
- Settings → Connected apps disconnects any agent instantly.
Why this is free
The expensive half of AI video editing is the model compute, and in this setup you bring your own: the agent runs on the Claude or ChatGPT account you already pay for, and rendering runs in your browser. Hosting the editor costs us very little, so it stays free, and the paid product is the rest of BetterSocials (posting everywhere, the inbox, keyword DMs) for whoever wants it. Yes, through a connector. Add the BetterSocials MCP address in Claude's Settings under Connectors, sign in, and Claude can cut retakes, remove filler, tighten pauses and caption your footage in the free editor while you watch the tab. Claude Code connects with a single terminal command.
What is an MCP video editor?+
A video editor that exposes its editing operations over the Model Context Protocol, the standard AIs use to operate real software. The BetterSocials editor is one: any MCP-speaking agent (Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor) can drive its cuts, captions and overlays.
Is AI agent video editing safe to let run?+
